Walgreens Register Rewards

This is a good program as well. Walgreens doesn't have a "Loyalty Card", so there's nothing extra to scan during your transactions. They offer "Register Rewards" on qualifying purchases much like CVS does. These have a "Limit" which is usually just a per transaction. Meaning you can do separate transactions and get more than one deal.  These won't print on your receipt paper, but from a separate machine. The cashier will hand them to you along with your receipt. These Rewards are scanned like a coupon, and are removed from the total as such. Here's a situation where there is a downfall to Walgreens not having a loyalty card. Register Rewards deals have to be purchased in a single transaction. For instance if the deal is buy two boxes of something, and get $2 Register Rewards, both boxes have to be purchased in the same transaction. One important thing to remember about these is if you receive a register reward for a product, you can't use that specific reward to purchase another of that item. Let's do some examples.

Okay, so let's do a scenario with Vicks products. In your Walgreens ad for the week, you see they have Vicks on sale for $4.99 and they give you $2.00 in Register Rewards when you buy two. So when you go to the store, get yourself two boxes of whatever qualifying Vicks products you choose. Pay for them like any other transaction, and then you will receive a Register Rewards slip for $2.00 off your next purchase courtesy of Vicks. Now this reward can be used on any other purchase in the store. If you use it on another Vicks product however, it will not print the Register Rewards for the second transaction. Just keep this in mind if you want more Register Rewards you'll have to purchase additional deals without using the Register Rewards given to you for the Vicks purchases.

Coupons CAN be used in conjunction with these deals!

Just because an item has Register Rewards, that doesn't mean you can't use those coupons also! Here is where you can really save some money! Or even MAKE some money! Let's do a couple scenarios using this.

Say for instance Walgreens has their cough syrup on sale for $5.99 and you get $5.99 Register Rewards back. Which means it is FREE after Register Rewards. Pretty awesome deal right? Well, if you have a coupon for this specific product, you can MAKE money!!! Let's say you have a coupon for $3.00 off this specific cough syrup. Your transaction would go like this. Cough syrup $5.99 minus your $3.00 coupon for the product. So you pay the cashier $2.99 plus any applicable sales tax, and they hand you a Register Rewards slip for $5.99 (mine rounds up so it would be $6.00). You just MADE money on that cough syrup! Plus, you have the cough syrup! This is a situation where you want to do a couple of separate transactions and stock up on the product. Just remember, you can't use that $6 Register Reward to pay for another of the same cough syrup.
